Frequently Asked Questions

Hi there, I have one as well. It works fine. I have quite a tight turn to make to get my tandem axle trailer around but no issues so far. I have a good surface on the driveway and no incline at all so I suppose that would help. I only looked at the mighty mover when I got mine (simply because it was on trademe at the time)

I would imagine our boat is at the upper end of the manufactures specs as well. The boat weighs in at around 3 tonne and rides on a tandem axle trailer with a tongue load of 280kg. Even on flat concrete I could not push the boat by hand. I used my vehicle to get the boat roughly in place and the mighty mover to finish the job. As the boat was parked on wet grass/ mud the vehicle would skid as soon as the rear tyres hit the grass, at this stage I’d put the mighty mover on and push it back into place with no issues. It was also great when you just needed to quickly move the boat to mow the lawns etc. I never tried it on loose gravel.

Can the Mighty Mover be used on an incline?

There are a number of considerations in answering this question. The degree of the incline The weight of the towed vehicle. The surface being moved over, is the surface sealed (concrete or ash felt) Should our customers be considering moving over an incline please call us to discuss your personal towing needs, we happy to discuss your towing requirements and provide a suitable solution.

Would this back a tandem trailer with a 22 foot fibreglass boat on flat grass lawn.

Please call on 021 703476 to discuss your towing requirements in more depth Regards Vic

What is the max weight/incline that it can pull or push

Would like to discuss this inquiry in more detail, there are many variables

what is size & kg?

see below

Do you think the unit would pull a 500kg solid wheeled bin up a 10 degree incline (concrete).

Would like to discuss this in more detail

Hi. Do you have someone in AKL able to demonstrate the power of these please? Thanks

Yes Carl at Saunders Automotive, 3 Ashfield rd Glenfield Auckland 09-4437584 027-2851423 Regards Vic

Hi. How fast does it go, in Ks per hour? Thanks. I want one for towing an aircraft out of a hangar.

Approx. 1/2 walking speed. Sorry we haven’t specifically measured the Ks per hour

What is the weight and dimensions of the unit. I need it to operate on metal??

Weight 95kg’s Dimensions L930mm x W630mm x H600mm Please call on 021 703 476 if you require further assistance

sorry what is the high of the tow ball from the ground We have a 9 meter dual axle caravan is there anyone around the Hawkes bay area that have them??

The standard height from the ground to the tow ball is 430mm, the tow ball carrier plate may be adjusted a further 50mm making 480mm, plus the shank of the tow ball can be spaced by a further 30mm making a max 510mm from the ground.

Is it able to move a 3t caravan

Please call on 021 703 476 we’d be happy to discuss the best towing option for you.

Is this unit quiet to operate? Thanks

Yes reasonably quite, you’ll just hear a low electric motor whirl during it’s operation

Thanks for the prompt response. Merry Christmas!

can you add pictures of the remote control please and how far away can you use the remote from the trolley? thanks Shane 44P

The remote control is hand held, most of our clients simply use the handlebar switch to control the
mover, the remote is handy when moving say a caravan or a large boat and one can’t see any obstacles
behind, the remote allows the operator to nudge the towed vehicle closer to the parking spot (wall end of
garage etc.) by controlling the mover from the other end of the vehicle. The range is approx.. 5 to 6 mtrs.
Such manoeuvres will usually require another person at the mover end to steer.

hi, does this have a motor driving each wheel or one motor driving both wheels? thanks Shane.

The motor drives both wheels simultaneously through a fixed axle which reduces wheel spin and
increases traction. Very easy to turn.

Hi, how much to ship to Hamilton?

$95.00 +GST to Hamilton and suburbs.

Hi there, can these work on a gentle incline, or only on on flat ground? Cheers

There are many variables to answer with your question. If you would be happy to give me a call we can
discuss your towing needs and provide suggestions accordingly. My number is 021 703 476

Hi does it come with a warranty

Yes it he Mighty Mover has a 12 month warranty

Hi there, what is the maximum tow-ball weight it is designed for? My heaviest trailer is about 1.3 tonnes, I am guessing this can push a load like that up a moderate incline?

The tow ball weight is irrelevant as the jockey wheel remains down during a tow, pre-loading the
downward weight on the coupling and through to the mover tires (traction) is controlled by winding the
jockey wheel slightly up or down until a comfortable level is found. We would like to discuss incline
towing as there are a number of important considerations around this.

HI ... have a 8.5m boat max weight 3.5 tonne and wish to park it around the side of the house very tight turn do you have anything for this plus how far on one charge will this unit operate... thanks

Please cal me to discuss on 021 703 476

hi, whats with the $400:00 price increase in the last few days? thanks

Unfortunately as mentioned in the ad text, we have absorbed supply Increases over the last couple of
years to where we simply have to increase the mover price. We are happy to honour the old price for a
limited period of time for enquiries made by customers prior to today’s price increase. Thanks for the
enquiry.

Just purchased one of these units. Have not had a chance to use it yet, I will update this once I do. Just wanted to for the time being offer a glowing reference to Vic. The communication and service was exceptional. I wish all retailers were like Vic. Thank you and really appreciate everything. I will come back with a review of the Mighty Mover once I have had a chance to try it out in the next week and a bit..

Appreciate your kind comments regards Vic

hi there; looking at getting some help. i recently bought the mover but keeps lifting off when i try backing the boat. it has the tow bar on the top part. (2014 model.) do you sell any accessories or converting parts that i could add on so it turns into the model similar to the one shown in the picture above?? cheers'

Hi, The Mighty Mover should have a collar that sits around the tow ball, the tow ball adjusts up or
down in the tow ball carrier arm (this is achieved by loosening the tow ball locking nut) and turning the
tow ball which is threaded into the tow ball arm, once the trailer coupling is locked onto the tow ball there
should be no clearance between the top or the anti-torque ring and the underside edge of the trailer
coupling. Once this adjustment is correct and this may take a few finer adjustments

thanks Vic! thats highly appreciated. i can easily see how this can resolve the issue for good. cheers'

My pleasure

would you have the collar available separately? just in case it’s not there. i can’t recall very well if the unit has a collar. cheers'

The collars are welded to the tow ball arm so unless the entire arm is missing it should be there.

Are these OK to use in the rain as weather doesn't always co-operate when it's time to put the caravan away 🙁

Yes fine to use in the rain as with all electrical equipment it would be prudent to cover the electrical
areas if the rain is heavy. Also note traction may be impaired due to the wet.

Traction Impairment understood. What IP Rating do the electrical components comply with?

Splash proof only – no IP rating

is there a video of this in operation anywhere to view?

Sorry not currently.

Hi I have a 2700kg boat and trailer, the trailer has a jockey stand - not a wheel, can this move it as you state the wheel stays down but I don't have one and it would just get stuck in the grass anyway

Hello, Thanks for the inquiry. The Mighty Mover traction is controlled by the up and down adjustment
of the towed vehicle’s jockey wheel. In your instance where there is no Jockey wheel and just a stand this
unfortunately will not work and isn’t fit for purpose. If you replaced the stand with an appropriate jockey
wheel, then the only consideration is “will the jockey wheel move over the grassed area” Please call to
discuss 021 703 476

Hi where is your show room here in wellington? Thank you

We are situated in Stokes Valley, Lower Hutt

Would you be able to give us a demonstration at our storage yard in West Auckland. We operate a portable cabins company.

Yes, Please call Carl at Saunders Automotive, he may be able to accommodate you although he is quite
some distance away from you and he’s very busy, so any arrangement is as it at his discretion. 3 Ashfield
rd Glenfield Auckland 09-4437584 027-2851423

Hi I have one of these but now have a tandem trailer - you mentioned some time ago you have a fitting for the wheels of a tandem trailer to make it easier to manoeuvre are they still available?

Certainly are please call 021 703476

Hi there, I have one of the older models and cooked the battery. Could you tell me where I can get a new battery from and perhaps a photo of how the wiring reconnects as I failed to take a photo before I removed... Many thanks in advance

Hi Any Marshall/Exide battery store should be able to help. From memory we used either a #5 or #6
battery in those models, any 12v battery will be fine so long as the physical dimensions allow the battery to
fit the battery box. Sorry we don’t have any pictures. The charging port is important to ensure the polarity
is connected to the battery correctly as otherwise the charger protection fuse will blow. (Use a multi meter
to determine the polarity) Regards Vic

Hi, do you know if any of these have been adapted to be used as 'tugs' for small aircraft like a Cessna 172? Do you have a dealer or a mighty mover located in Christchurch? Thanks.

Yes the MM has been used to move small planes and gliders, no agent in CHCH sorry

Do you have anybody able to demonstrate in Christchurch?

Sorry not at this time

Hi wot is the shipping weight for one these. Thanks Paul

Hi the shipping weight is 95kgs 0.815 m3

will they work on double wheel jayco van

Yes the mighty mover will work on a Jayco, however there are many parameters to towing if you give
me a call we would be happy to discuss this with you 4:06 pm,

Hi i have a 6.3 metre tandem axel uk caravan i want to be able to push it up a 10 degree slope on gravel will this work for me? cheers

Sorry not designed for this type of application

Hi is there anything that is available to take a boat down the ramp to launch and retrieve?

We have under development a fully marinised system that will operate while fully submerged, this will
comfortably move up a 15 degree incline, the system is permanently fitted to the boat trailer and operated
by wireless remote. Watch this space.

how are these on sand for those difficult boat ramps on for a jet ski

We can fit tires with a more aggressive tread pattern if required, the MM is primarily designed to

operate over reasonably flat sealed ground. Traction at the MM drive tires is achieved in part by the down-
ward weight at the draw bar/coupling of the towed vehicle. In your situation where a jet ski/trailer is quite

light this can sometimes work against a successful tow and create MM wheel/tire spin. Please call to
discuss your needs in more detail 021703 476.

Hi, how many meters a minute is the trevel speed, Regards, Graham.

Sorry we haven’t actually measured this, we understand it’s a subjective assessment but approx.. 1/2
walking speed. Regards Vic

Hi, I have one of you units and managed to snap the red power master key. Do you have a replacement available? Thanks

Please call 021 703476 Regards Vic

Do you sell the motor and gearbox separately and how long does the battery last before recharging?

Battery – the battery will require charging (topping up) after each use, the mover comes with an
automatic charger, it good battery management to keep the battery properly charged. Regards Vic

Hi there does system break do so can be taken away to use on holiday, I have a 28ft Jayco heavy thing. so i need help parking. Do you offer layby please Diana.

Mover weighs approx. 100kgs so not really practical to move around with you even though the mover
will self drive up a ramp onto a suitable vehicle. Regards Vic

Do you have one of these in Christchurch to demonstrate please?

We have sold many into this area, unfortunately we don’t track the final addresses. Please feel free to
give us a call to discuss your towing requirements. You may qualify for our return supply service. Mobile
021 703 476. Regards Vic

Would you do lay buy

Happy to help, please call us to discuss how you would like to structure the lay by. Regards Vic

hi is there anywhere in Palmerston north that sell the mighty mover ?

Hi I believe we have spoken on the phone recently, if this is a different person please feel free to re-
contact us. Regards Vic

Hi, Is the 4000lb rating 1814kgs the max rating the mighty mover can move. I have a 1800kg digger on a trailer so was curious if this would be to heavy to move. Cheers

No that’s the rating of the motor prior to the final drive ratios being applied. We have some customers
that move over 3000kgs on flat sealed ground. The traction, weight and terrain are all important
considerations when moving heavy vehicles.

hi vic. this is the first time that I have made contact (spoken on phone? not me} just would like to know if any outlet near Palmerston north. cheers

Hi thanks for the enquiry. We manufacture the Mighty Movers in Wellington then freight them directly
to customers, we don’t have and outlets or retail premises in an attempt to keep the retail price reasonable.
Happy for you to come to the Wellington depot for a look, just give us a call. Cheers Vic

Hi I have read the previous Q & A,s and suspect you will want me to phone. However, I have a small trailer boat about 850kg. I need to manoeuvre into an awkward space. !st a slight incline on exposed concrete. Then about 7 mtres of grass. will this be any good

Hi Mike, Thanks for the enquiry. Please give me a ring, to speak personally is much better in
determining if the Mighty Mover is the best solution for your needs. Look forward to hearing from you.
Vic Alder 021 703476

Hi How heavy is it? I want to transport it to various locations to move my trailer when at locations.

The mover weighs approx.. 95kgs, we move them around using either our van or trailer, they self-drive
themselves up a ramp into either vehicle.

Need an agent in Mt Maunganui?

Please give us a call on 031 703 476 Regards Vic

Any in stock or made to order ?

Usually made to order 10:43 pm.

Can you please add photo of it in action thanks?

We will do our best to provide a video, we don’t have one currently it’s something we have always
intended to do but always seems to creep down the to do list.

Where is this manufactured. cheers

Manufactured in Wellington – Thanks

I need to place a tandem axle 7m boat within 100mm of a side wall. I will do this by myself [no assistant]. How do I see the rear and still steer? I guess this will not work?

The mover comes with a wireless remote that controls the mover motor which means an operator can
stand at the other end of the boat and nudge the boat closer to a wall or fence and be in full control of the
movement, however if turning is required at the same time during the movement a second person will he
needed to control the turn. Hope this helps Regards Vic

Yes turning would be required. You ever envisage this option? That would be the whole package then.

Yes possibly a feature for future models, were always attempting to maintain a reasonable retail price.
Unfortunately more features equal more costs.

This is great well done making this

Thanks for the comment, much appreciate.
